What do I do with my Life?

I think one of the most terrorizing things in the last 3 years has been deciding on a major. What do I do right now for school? There seems to be so many things that I want to do, but I am struggling to choose. I know that many people go through this process of agonizing over a major and then end up finding work that doesn't relate to their studies. That seems to me like it's about having the "paper" rather than the specific qualifications. But, certainly that's not true for all careers. I wouldn't want a "doctor" doing surgery on me that is only qualified for civil engineering, it just wouldn't cut it for me. So, what do I do?

Well, I just briefly looked at majors that ASU offers and here's a list I came up with that are interesting:

  • Web Design
  • Non-Profit Management
  • Philosophy
  • Religious Studies
  • Special Education
  • Sociology
  • Sustainability
  • Tourism Development & Management
  • Interior Design
  • Interdisciplinary Studies
  • Global Studies
  • Marketing
  • Business
Does anyone see my dilemma? I have to many options, I must narrow them. I trust that God will open and lead me to the area He sees me fit, but I'm not sure if He has revealed that to me so clearly. I think this type of agonizing comes from a fear that I have about choosing a wrong major and screwing everything up in the process. I know, that is nonsense.

I must mention that the top list is for bachelors degree and if I choose to get a masters it would be in Theology, Intercultural Studies, Philosophy of Religion, or Missiology Studies.

Well, I guess the question that should be asked is "What are my goals for the future?" And here is what I want to accomplish...
  • Missionary Work ( Working with people who have yet to hear the Good News of Jesus Christ)
  • Travel (South Korea, Thailand, Vietnam, Jerusalem, Egypt, India, Maldives, etc.)
  • Be on the field with a team helping the poor
  • Write a book
  • Write music
  • Get married
  • Build/ Create Something (Furniture, house, etc)
  • Own a small business (Coffee, Pizza, Books)
  • Graduate College
  • Own a house
As I list all these goals and ideas, it's good to remember that all of this is rubbish if it brings no glory to God through Christ. If I accomplish everything here and die without living my life for the One who truly gives life. It is nothing. I will post a blog later talking about the meaninglessness of life without God. As for deciding on a major I am torn, and need to choose soon. It will require prayer, wisdom, guidance, and a step of faith. And probably the biggest thing holding me back is fear. I will need to get rid or around fear.
